Alpha Mu Beta (AMB) is a social sorority at the University of Rio Grande. In February of 1965, seven women students at Rio Grande College banded together to form an organization that would promote the strong bonds of sisterhood. On October 7, 1965, Rio Grande College approved this organization and it became known as the Fraternal Order of Alpha Mu Beta. The colors are burgundy and light blue, the mascot is the fox, and the flower is a red carnation. AMB strives to create new avenues leading to success for all of its members by helping them to attain the knowledge necessary to function as leaders in a college community, serving as a preparation for lifelong success after college. Alpha Mu Beta celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2005! But as the years go by, one thing will always remain constant, 'Sisters Forever, Pledge For Life.
